Annual Piggy Bank Fundraiser Supports Early Childhood Education
Posted on July 19, 2023Johnstown, PA (July 19, 2023) – If you spot a hand-painted piggy bank around the region, please dig out some pocket change and support The Learning Lamp’s Be the CHANGE fundraiser. The campaign invites people to join together to increase access to early childhood programs so local children can reach their full potential. The adorable banks, which were hand-painted by area children, will be on display at partner businesses through August 28, 2023.
Ninety percent of brain development happens between the ages of birth and five years. It is a critical time for children. When children are engaged in high quality early learning experiences, it sets them on the path to success. Your contribution will help increase child care and preschool quality access across our region. Study after study shows that students who attend quality preschool are less likely to show signs of anxiety or drop out of school. When children start school ready to learn, they are more likely to graduate. Be on the lookout for the chance to Be the CHANGE at the following locations:

“We are excited to have the support of many local businesses who join us in raising awareness of the importance of early learning programs in our community by adopting a piggy bank to host at their location for the next six weeks,” said Kathy Morrell, The Learning Lamp’s Director of Development. “To those individuals who drop some coins or a dollar or two into our banks in support of little learners, thank you, because the change you donate may end up changing a child’s life.”
There is still time to host a pig of your own. If you would like to adopt a piggy bank, call Kathleen Morrell at 814-262-0732 extension 233. For more information on The Learning Lamp’s early learning programs, visit thelearninglamp.org.
