Kids’ Day Out Program Offers Flexible Child Care for Working Parents

Event Date: October 09, 2017 through December 31, 2017

Parents can breathe a sigh of relief on holidays, teacher in-service days, snow days and winter break with The Learning Lamp’s Kids’ Day Out (KDO) program. It offers child care on days when school is not in session, but parents still have to work. With locations in Richland, Westmont, Jennerstown, Sidman and Ebensburg, there’s no reason to panic over a school cancellation.

Each KDO day offers activities centered on a unique theme. Students from kindergarten to sixth grade will learn through hands-on exploration as they spend the day under the big top, party with penguins, travel through time and much more!

“While snow days and holidays are a great source of fun for childhood memories, any day schools are closed puts a lot of extra stress on parents to find alternate child care plans,” said Brittany Darr, director of school-age programs at The Learning Lamp. “We take the time to plan activities so each KDO day is special and memorable for your children so they won’t lose the magic of having a day off from school.”

KDO is available at five sites: the Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center in Richland, The Little Learning Lamp in Westmont, The Learning Lamp Center for Children in Jennerstown, Forest Hills Elementary in Sidman and Cambria Elementary School in Ebensburg. Children do not have to attend these schools or programs to take part in Kids’ Day Out. Hours at our Westmont site are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For Richland, Jennerstown, Ebensburg and Forest Hills sites, the program runs from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Forest Hills Elementary site has limited Kids’ Day Out dates, but families are encouraged to enroll at other KDO locations. A minimum of five children must enroll for the program to take place.

Parents interested in signing up their children for Kids’ Day Out should contact 814-262-0732 extension 243. For more information on The Learning Lamp’s other programs, visit thelearninglamp.org.
