Free Back-To-School Training Series for Early Childhood Professionals Announced
Posted on July 23, 2025Johnstown, PA (July 23, 2025) – Ongoing training is vital for early learning professionals—especially those working in rural communities where access to professional development can be limited. To bridge that gap and strengthen the quality of child care for all children, The Learning Lamp, in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children (PennAEYC) and Early Childhood Alleghenies, is launching a Back-To-School Series of FREE online professional development trainings for early childhood educators.
This three-part virtual series is designed to fit the busy schedules of early learning professionals and offers practical, evidence-based strategies to enhance classroom practices. Each session will be led by Karian Wise, an Interaction Design Strategist at Trying Together with nearly 20 years of experience in the field.
Training Schedule:
- Early Intervention and Inclusion from the Classroom Perspective
Tuesday, July 29 | 6 to 8 p.m.
Explore a comprehensive overview of Infant/Toddler and Preschool Early Intervention (EI), gain tools for EI and ECE collaboration, and learn how to support inclusive practices in your classroom.
- Trauma-Informed Classrooms: Supporting Children with Trauma
Tuesday, August 26 | 6 to 8 p.m.
Gain strategies for creating trauma-sensitive learning environments and supporting the emotional needs of all children through empathy and healing-centered practices.
- How to Handle and Navigate “Challenging” Conversations with Families
Tuesday, September 30 | 6 to 8 p.m.
Learn practical communication tools for engaging in tough conversations with families using respectful and supportive language.
Educators can earn a minimum of 2 hours and up to 6 hours of PQAS and ACT 48 credits by registering and participating in the sessions.

In 2024, The Learning Lamp and our school-based division, Ignite Education Solutions, directly served 43,056 children and adults. In addition, we worked with 87 public and private schools in 17 Pennsylvania counties and supported 503 child care and community-based organizations with free or nearly free shared resources, positively impacting another 53,384 children in 55 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.
Our programs include: child care and preschool, tutoring, school staffing, educational programs for at-risk students, online learning, credit recovery, school-based substance use prevention, project consulting for schools, and early childhood systems building.
