That’s why …
Every Center for Children is led by a child care director with a degree in early childhood education, elementary education or child development.
Most members of our support staff hold a two-year degree or higher in child development or a related field.
We seek out warm, caring individuals who want to teach in an early learning environment.
We offer our standards-based preschool program at all child care locations at no additional charge. Preschool teachers also hold degrees in early childhood education or child development.
Research-Based Curricula
We also offer the Creative Curriculum for Infants, Young Toddlers and Twos for children from birth – age two. This proven program helps children build relationships with other children, and creates meaningful daily routines and experiences based on each child’s strengths and interests.
It’s followed up by the well-respected Building Language for Literacy curriculum for preschoolers. This program strengthens beginning reading skills through a variety of interactive and hands-on activities.
Programs that Meet the Highest Standards
These and other efforts have helped The Learning Lamp child care centers meet the rigorous standards of Pennsylvania’s Keystone STARS quality child care initiative. In 2016, The Learning Lamp Center for Children @ GJCTC earned national accreditation from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
NAEYC accreditation is considered the gold standard for early childhood programs.

Laura has been working in childcare for almost 15 years, so it was a natural fit when she joined The Learning Lamp in June 2022. “I have had the opportunity to create my dream classroom that is a fun, yet educational atmosphere,” said Strauch. “Every day I learn something new about myself and how I can best teach each child in my care.” She is also adamant about passing on the knowledge she has learned to younger childcare workers at her center. “I recently finished my training to be a coach for the pre-apprenticeship program, and I’m very excited to be a part of it,” said Strauch. “I hope that sharing my experiences will benefit others! Thank you, Laura, for your dedication to child care and the children we serve!
